Doctors. What we think we are and what we become after 5th year

The other day i attended a session on the topic doctors, it was conducted to tell us the true meaning of a doctor what a doctor must be like and what we as students expect from our profession.
We talked about the qualities of doctors, everyone in the room said that doctors should be good listeners, life long learners, empathetic, honest, skilful, trustworthy, approachable so on and so forth. But on the other hand
when we were asked to list down why we want to be doctors most of us came up with words like fame, money, importance, good name, reputation etc.
So this is where i put in some questions and my point of views. First of all why is there a difference between our picture of an ideal doctor and our expectation from the profession for ourselves? Second is there a way to bridge this difference?
ok firstly let me make this clear that at the start of med school that is first year 90% of the students will tell you that they are becoming doctors cause they want to serve the humanity, but by the mid of 3rd year to the start of 4th year if you again ask these students why they are becoming doctors? only about 20% will give you the same answer as before, the rest will say we wanna earn money or we wanna be reputable and famous doctors. Have you ever thought why the sudden change in the thought process? well to tell you the truth i myself dont know the exact right answer to this question but m gonna put up my opinion on it here.
When we enter medical school we are told that you will have to spend a fair amount of money for this education and we agree to do that, the expenses shown to the students are the ones including college fees and examination fees and may be a little bit of book expenditure, but when the student enters the medical college and starts to study, a number of hidden expenditures come to light. Expenses like you need new books around 25 to 30 of them within the first year and then every three months you are told that as we r starting a new subject or course so you need the required books. More over there are some courses that are mandatory to attend and again you need to pay, then again there are multiple courses offered that are optional but are so tempting that you end up paying for them and going for the course. Also you need to do electives in other hospitals during ur med school holidays and again if not all some these hospitals do charge you a certain amount for your application submission. And of course how can we forget the transportation expenses. These are just some of the expenses that we bear in order to become a doctor.
As far as i believe this is the major reason why the thinking of the medical students change during these 5 years, this is one of the reasons why medical students change there trail of thought from serving humanity to earning money.
Now to see if this difference can be bridged? well yes it can be bridged and the thoughts of students can be stopped from changing, but in order to do that the first and foermost thing that needs to be done is lower the expenses for the students, make good libraries so that the student does not have to run to buy each and every course book, lower down the costs of these books, lower down the costs for the courses and work shops conducted and in that way try to lower down the expenses for the students. Cause when a medical student spends this much money on his education and sees how much is being spent, he or she starts to think that they are spending such large amounts so they have to earn a good amount of money, and just this thought ruins there initial purpose of becoming a doctor.
